Hey guys!!
Sorry for the rush of the last few months, but it's hard to find time to post... lol
On 08/24/2019 we had another historic event in Espírito Santo. After the SQL Day ES, which we organized last year and had 450 registrants and 250 attendees, we were finally able to bring a global technology event to ES, the SQL Saturday Vitória, it finally happened (and it was a tremendous success)!
It all started back in 2017 when we started Local Group SQL Server – ES, and, after holding 12 meetings and one SQL Day – ES, we took courage and requested a date from PASS (https://www.pass.org/) to organize SQL Saturday Vitória.
Well, after some time, in April, precisely on the 24th, we launched the SQL Saturday – Vitória website and opened CALL For Papers and had 63 lectures submitted. The first question we had was answered, as we had enough lectures (thank God!!!). After that, we were worried about the sponsors. This was our biggest difficulty, as we only received sponsorship from friends' companies that are already operating in the community. With just two weeks to go until the event, we were struggling to pay the entire cost just with the sponsors we managed to get, but the financial relief came when Microsoft Global entered the circuit and put up some money to cover the rest of the event's expenses (coffee, arts, banners, etc.).
During the entire preparation period we were thinking about how the public would accept it and the number of people we would have at the event. To our surprise, we closed registrations with 823 people registered and on the day of the event we had more than 300 people present. The low point of the event was the drop of more than 50% in the number of registrants and those present at the event, but I would like to congratulate the people who left cities in the interior of ES. We also had people coming from other states such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Bahia just to attend the event's lectures.

And gifts??? Was there a toast? YES IT WAS!!
Speaker Show
On Saturday the speakers put on a show!!! There were 28 lectures throughout the day with people present until the last lecture with a full auditorium!
Thank you very much to each of the speakers who left their homes, covered the travel, hotel and food expenses without earning a single penny for it, just the pleasure of sharing knowledge and meeting friends at the event.
I would particularly like to highlight three speakers who were above average and who literally made a huge effort to participate in the event. THE Renato Groffe that on the way to the airport he had a car accident and missed his flight, but paid for another flight so as not to let the event down. THE Jucinei Santos who wasn't even on the list of speakers, but drove 1200 KM to be present at the event and ended up having to fill a last-minute hole in the lecture schedule. Finally, the Raul Oliveira, who made a real marathon to come to the event, as he left Cuiabá at 3:00 in the morning, flew to Brasília, then to Salvador and finally arrived in Vitória. Then he still had to return to Brasília on Saturday after the event.
Donations / Solidarity event
One of the things we could have done better was promoting people to bring a kg of food to the event. We talked about it a few times, but we didn't hit this point hard in all our announcements.
The Salesian himself, with his social projects, found some homes to receive our food.
I was a little sad that I wasn't able to help more. However, the goal for next year is to focus much more on this.
Dinner, Tours and Post-Event Happy Hour
On Thursday there was already a speaker in Vitória:

On Friday we had our traditional dinner with the speakers:

With so many speakers coming from other states (the majority), many who are visiting Espírito Santo for the first time, we couldn't help but show them some cool points during their visit to our state, right? Starting with happy hour, at the traditional Abertura bar:

Thanks
The first thank you is to my fellow organizers, Tiago Neves, Fabrício Lima and Vithor Silva, because without them, this event, as well as all the other 13 we organized, would not have gotten off the ground. Only we know how organizing events takes work and takes time (and often, even money).
I would like to record here my gratitude to the entire team at Centro Universitário Católica de Vitória, through Prof. Marcelo Schuster, which mobilized half the world at the Faculty to hold the event. I also want to congratulate the marketing team, through Ana Paula and the Vinicius Vacari, who created all our arts to publicize the event, the cleaning aunts, as the bathrooms, rooms and corridors were being cleaned all the time.
And I couldn't help but thank Fabiana Lima, she was not a hand in the wheel, but she was a wheel in the hand, because if everything came out neatly and everything was executed in detail, it was thanks to her.
Many thanks also to all from the support team who made sure everything on the day went as planned:
– Erica Roque
– Charles Luxinger
– Luiz Vitor
– Caroline Goltara
– Leandro Lima
– Thais Mafra (Support AND speaker!)
– Tassio Carlini
– Alan Mainrink
– Wander Domingos
– Diêgo Bernardes
I couldn't help but thank each and every one of the sponsors, without your help and financial support the event would not have gotten off the ground and this dream would not have become reality.
So, thank you very much to the companies: Microsoft, Fabricio Lima Database Solutions, Planheiros, Brazilian Devs, VSSTI and TOTVS – ES.
We would also like to thank the companies that in some way supported the event, whether by providing gifts or resources at more affordable prices: Mindworks, Angelica Neves Photography, Marly Pão de Mel, Apex SQL and Catholic University Center of Vitória
We ended the event with a feeling of accomplishment! Following some posts on social media, we can conclude that the event was a success and that we can now start planning SQL Saturday Vitória/ES 2020. If you weren't able to participate in the event, don't miss out on the next one, as it will be even better!!!
